Welcome

We're happy to have you with us!

Fr. Riji requested that the following email be shared with our parishioners and guests. This is an email sent to the parishes from Dean Happe the Chancellor and C.O.O. of the Diocese of Evansville. Please remember to check your Christ the King Parish Flocknote communications, our parish Facebook page and WITZ & WBDC radio stations and Channel 14 TV station throughout the weekend for the status of the Masses this weekend.

"With the threat of severe winter weather coming our way, many have inquired about the obligation to attend Mass during a state of emergency or dangerous road and weather conditions.  You may be receiving similar inquiries and so we'd like to share the following note to assist you in preparing or responding to those inquiries as needed:

If it is impossible or dangerous for someone to make it to Mass, the obligation to attend Mass is lifted. Individuals should use prudential judgment. If the weather shifts and they are able to attend Mass without putting their lives at risk they should do so. However, if it is unsafe to get on the roads to make it to Mass, individuals are encouraged to pray with the readings of the Mass, make an Act of Spiritual Communion and dedicate time in prayer to the Lord.

In the case where a state of emergency is declared due to severe weather or similar conditions, parishes should exercise prudent local judgment in determining whether to proceed with scheduled weekend Masses. A state of emergency does not, in itself, prohibit the celebration of Mass or parishioners from attending, and parishes are encouraged to offer Mass whenever it can be done safely, particularly when the priest is able to be present without unsafe travel.

Let's pray for those who may be affected by the coming winter weather."
